January 2024 Update

The KEP shelves are empty. What’s going on?

I’m still here, and busy. I have been working on my end of year paperwork and several enhancements to my existing projects. I have also been prototyping a couple of new pedals.

I have decided to give my pedals a visual update. I have created faceplates for many of my current offerings. The faceplates are black with white and silver labeling.

I have prototyped and will implement a new relay bypass switching system in my pedals. I will use the standard 3PDT bypass in my budget line (until I run through my current stock of 3PDT switches), but all future Dynamic Overdrive, Bluetone, and Studio Deluxe pedals will include the new improved switching system.

I will be introducing new designs in the next couple of months. The first will be the Solar Echo delay pedal. This pedal is derived from an old DIY favorite project of mine, the Madbean Dirt Baby pedal. It’s a PT2399 based delay pedal, tuned to emulate the Deluxe Memory Man with modulation. I am also re-working an old KEP circuit, an optical tremolo. I am hoping to get the Solar Echo delay pedals to my beta testers soon for a late spring release.

I am also redesigning my circuit boards to allow for the use of surface mount resistors. As a one person operation, having a robot doing some of the lesser important work will allow me to be more productive. I have designed my circuit boards to ensure only low noise, precision thin film resistors are used in the signal path. All capacitors, diodes, transistors, and Opamps (even my SMD OPA2134 chips) will continue to be tested and hand soldered to the circuit boards. I will continue to hand wire every single wired connection in my pedals.
