KEP KA2A Optical Limiter Pedal

The KEP KA2A Optical Limiter Pedal is a handmade limiter pedal modeled after Steve Bartlett’s (Bajaman) circuit, which traces the Demeter Compulator but is redesigned to function as a true limiter rather than a compressor. It derives its control signal from the input, closer in behavior to a Teletronix LA-2A. Built in a durable 1590B enclosure (4.425″ L x 2.382″ W) with Lumberg jacks and Cusack potentiometers. Hand-soldered, true bypass relay switching, wiring reinforced for long-term durability.

The Demeter Compulator Story:

James Demeter’s Compulator became known as an unusually transparent optical compressor.[1] Designer Steve Bartlett (Bajaman), aiming for true limiter behavior rather than compression, redesigned the circuit to derive its control signal from the input — closer to a studio unit like the Teletronix LA-2A.[2][3]
