KEP Scarsdale Overdrive Pedal – Klone Style Overdrive

The KEP Scarsdale Overdrive Pedal is a handmade overdrive pedal modeled after the Klon Centaur circuit, built from the trace completed by Martin Chittum, in a durable 1590BB enclosure (4.7″ W x 3.7″ H). It uses 1N34A germanium diodes, each individually tested on a Peak Atlas component analyzer for ~0.35V forward voltage to match the traced original. Lumberg jacks, professional 3PDT stomp switch, Cusack/Stomp potentiometers. Hand-soldered and hand-wired for durability.

Bill Finnegan spent roughly four and a half years developing the Klon Centaur before releasing the first units by hand in 1994.[1] He built, tested, and shipped every unit himself, sealing the circuit under epoxy resin.[2] Around 8,000 were made before Finnegan discontinued the original in 2008.[3]

Jeff Beck, Joe Perry, John Mayer, and Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien have used Klons.[4][1]
